The idea that you can play poker from your cell phone has been around for several years. In the early days, the cell phones weren’t “smart” yet and therefore the mobile poker rooms were very basic.

The majority of the early mobile poker rooms operated on Windows Mobile devices. This was the only phone operating system available several years ago. Most have come and gone; they either couldn’t deliver the playing experience necessary or didn’t have enough players to warrant keeping the mobile rooms open.

While the era of the smartphone is now taking hold, a shift in view about online poker in the United States has stunted the growth of mobile poker. We now have the technology to create really good mobile poker rooms.

However, until American players are able to play online poker legally there is going to be a limited market for mobile poker. This obviously means that the following iPhone poker app that I am going to show you will not be available for residents of the U.S.

Switch Poker

The real money games at Switch Poker are only available to residents of the UK and other European countries. Currently, this mobile poker room is in its infancy as far as options go. That is how it usually has to start though, as the basic poker games need to be programmed correctly for mobile devices and all of the bugs need to be worked out.

Currently, Switch Poker only offers the 6 player ring game tables. There are no mobile poker tournaments or sit and gos yet, but these ideas are currently in the works. The only game that can be played is Texas Holdem, however plans are in place to develop Omaha tables as well as the other popular poker games.

You can now play Multitable on your phone or tablet. They also have had updates to improve the client software opening time as well as other fixes that have improved the game play.

There are currently poker games with stakes between 0.05/0.10c up to 1.0/2.0 Euros. The rake is pretty easy to follow. 5% of the total pot will be collected as rake. The maximum rake that will be collected during a hand is between €2 and €3 depending on the stakes you play at.

You will earn 100 SPPs (Switch Poker Points) for every €1 in the rake. The points will accumulate to help you win one of the two free prizes offered at Switch.

When you make your first deposit, you will need to use one of two codes. Deposit €50 and enter the deposit code FREEIPOD and you will get a chance to win a free iPod. Deposit €150 and enter the deposit code FREEIPAD and you will get a chance of winning a free iPad. You will have to enter the Bonus Code first, then go to the Cashier and make a deposit.

How do you win these prizes? You will need to accumulate 60,000 SPPs to win the iPod Touch or 100,000 SPPs to win the iPad.

Also, Switch Poker has recently developed a poker room that will play on the Android as well. You will need to download the app from their website as the software is obviously different then the iPhone/iPad.

Poker is essentially a huge family of games.

Caribbean stud poker is one such game that falls in the five-card stud category. The game has become really popular and is available in many online poker rooms.

It is slightly different from other poker games, because instead of playing against other players, as is usually the case, you play against the dealer. Here is a detailed look at this new and popular casino game.

History of Caribbean Stud

The history and origin of Caribbean stud is not very clear, which is quite unusual for a game that is relatively new to the casinos. Caribbean stud was created by casinos because poker was doing very well, and they wanted more people to play table games.

David Sklansky, considered by many to be a gambling genius, takes credit for creating the game in 1982 under the name of ‘Casino Poker’. This particular game was slightly different from the current Caribbean Stud as it had different rules for dealing the cards and there was no progressive jackpot associated either.

There are other stories as well, regarding the creation of the game, and one of them says that the game as we know it today was invented in 1987 in Las Vegas. Since the game was not becoming very popular amongst the players, the progressive jackpot was included to give players an incentive.

After that the game really took off, and was adopted by other casinos as well. Both these stories have not been verified, so no one can be sure about its origins.

Caribbean Stud Poker Rules

The main objective of the game is fairly simple, that is, you have to beat the dealer’s hand. The ranking of the hand is done using the traditional poker ranking system. Here is how the game is played.

The first step involves making the ante bet. This bet is placed in a section marked as ante in front of the player. The amount of bet should be equal to or greater than the table limit. While placing this particular bet the player can also bet $1 on the progressive jackpot.

The cards are dealt to both the dealer and the player. Players receive five cards and all of them are face down. The dealer also receives 5 cards but one of them is face up.

After looking at the hand dealt and the face up card of the dealer, the player decides whether he/she wants to fold or to continue playing. If the decision is to continue playing then it is required to place the call bet by doubling the ante bet.

Now the dealer turns over the cards dealt to him. For the dealer’s hand to be considered for the game, it must have a king or an ace. If this is not the case then the player is paid even money for the ante bet, and the call bet is termed as a push, that is, it neither wins nor loses.

However, if the dealer’s hand qualifies, the two hands are compared and if the player has the better hand then the payout is made according to the pre-established payable.

If you win the ante bet gets even money and the call bet is paid 1:1 for a pair or any lesser hand. The call bet pays at 2:1 for a two-pair, 3:1 for three of a kind, 4:1 for a straight. 5:1 for a flush, 7:1 for a full house, 20:1 for a four of a kind, and 50:1 for a straight flush.

Caribbean Stud Strategy

As is the case with a lot of casino games you can reduce the house edge in this game by playing to a particular strategy. For instance, if you have a pair or a higher hand then you should never fold. On the other hand, you should fold every hand that is less than an ace-king combination.

Playing the ace-king combination effectively is very important if you want to reduce the house edge significantly. If the face-up card of the dealer is an ace-or a king, then you should continue playing if you have a queen or a jack along with your ace and king.

If the dealer has the face up card in between 2 and the queen, you should raise your ace-king if you have the same card as the dealer in your hand. If the up turned card is between 2 and 5, then a queen or a jack will work with your ace-king combination. Using the optimal strategy, it is possible to reduce the house edge to about 5.2%.

Side-Bet

Caribbean stud has a side-bet which is basically present to make players feel that they have a better chance of winning. The option of placing the $1 side-bet is available when you make your ante-bet.

However, you should remember that to qualify for the bet you must have a hand of a flush or better. Getting a hand of flush, full-house or a four of a kind will fetch you $50, $75, and $100 respectively. Getting a straight flush will get you 10% of the progressive Jackpot and getting a royal lush will get you the entire Jackpot.

Getting a flush has the odds of 508 to 1 against it, and for this you will be getting $50. So if you bet $508, you might end up winning $50. That is why you should remember that it is never a good idea to play the side bet as you will more often than not end up wasting your money.

Also, the side bet is on even if the dealer’s hand does not qualify. That is why you should remind the dealer to check for the side-bet before the cards are folded.

There are certain variants of the game as well, like oasis poker which is popular in Egypt, Europe and internet casinos. In this form, players are allowed to switch cards for a certain fee. There is also Russian poker which is similar to oasis poker but with a few minute changes.

The kind of Texas Hold Em player that you are depends on if you like to play tightly or loosely or in an aggressive or passive way. Below you will see five different types of players and the ways in which you can play against them:

The Shark

This is the type of player that the majority if players desire to be. The shark doesn’t play many hands but when he does he plays aggressively and tight.

How to beat a Shark

Although it may seem it, the shark can be beaten. The weakness the shark holds is ‘tight play.’ If you bet against the shark, you will be on the receiving end of a good result.

The Fish

The fish is a passive and loose player which means the fish will enter many pots but at the same time will drop out of many as well. The fish will scare away from big bets but enjoys calling smaller bets.

How to beat a Fish

This is one of the best players to meet at a table and a way to spot the fish is look out for the player that is losing many chips.

On Tilt

The on tilt player is the player that most people will find themselves like during a game especially if you are online such as with www.pokerstars.co.uk. The on tilt player plays with his emotions and therefore can be easy to spot. This player has probably lost many of his chips as was expecting to win a hand.

How to beat an On Tilt player

Stay calm when playing against this player as the more and more emotional this player becomes, the more likely you are to take away his money. Do not bluff this player as he will presume that all players are trying to bluff him and will end up calling. A great place for beginners to learn poker would be the PokerStars Poker Platform.

The Maniac

The maniac likes to play aggressively and loosely and can be easily spotted as he will be playing in most hands. The maniac plays predictably and likes to play in many hands irrespective of the quality of the hand. This player bluffs often and quite often wins hands as other players are scared away.

How to beat a Maniac

The best way to beat this type of player is to step back and let him lose by himself. Unpredictable playing will never pay off in the long run.

The Rock

This type of player is the opposite of a maniac. The rock likes to bet small amounts and plays tightly. The rock can be quite a pessimistic player and can often assume that another play has the nuts when this is not the case. The rock plays cautiously and slowly when he decides to play a game.

How to beat a rock

The rock is deemed to be a player that is easy to beat and easy to read and can scared away from a pot easily.

I knew that I would eventually have to get around to item that is the hottest poker news these days. Of course, I am talking about the debacle that has happened with Full Tilt Poker.

If you haven’t heard by now, the feds have levied charges against Full Tilt Poker claiming that they were acting in a Ponzi scheme. Attaching that name to something in the financial world is almost akin to a person being labeled a child molester. You just don’t want either associated with you.

Being called a Ponzi scheme effectively destroys the remaining credibility of the brand. If some entity purchases the remainder of the company, which was already in bankruptcy, they will certainly have to change the name and repackage the poker site as something else.

Here is what got Full Tilt into more trouble then just accepting American poker players:

The Past Year for Full Tilt

The major poker sites that have been allowing people in the U.S. to play at their poker rooms were dealt a blow this past April when many of them had their domain names confiscated. Most websites stopped accepting poker players from the U.S. A few have been able to skirt around this but the majority of online poker players in the U.S. have stopped playing entirely.

By this time, the damage was already done to Full Tilt Poker. They had already dug their own hole and the government came along and pushed them in. The reality was that Full Tilt was having a hard time getting payment from their players’ bank accounts.

So what did they do? Were they responsible and tell people that there would be a slight inconvenience while they found another way to get the money? No, they chose to do about the dumbest thing possible.

“I know, lets just tell the players that they made the deposit and give them the chips so we don’t slow down”, which is what I assume that someone said along the line. What could possibly go wrong?

“You mean putting imaginary money in with all of the real money? That’s sounds like a swell idea, let’s give ourselves giant bonuses”, which is what I assume that Rafe Furst, Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer did. To be fair, they weren’t directly taking the money from the players’ accounts. The money that they gave themselves was from the rake and tournament fees that made Full Tilt more than profitable when they were able to receive money from players.

However, the decision to ever give players chips without getting their money is one of the most brain-dead moves ever. Here are the problems with that:

1) People aren’t stupid and they are greedy. I’m generalizing here. When some players saw that they could get free money, they took it. $100 here, $500 there, as long as you played at their tables for a while before you asked to cash out, you would get free money!

2) Your not a bank Full Tilt poker. Banks don’t have to have all the money they say that they do because if they run out, the banks get to ask the Federal Reserve to print them more. When you run out of money and you stated that you had millions more, that means you fail.

The government hit the accelerator by stopping the scheme in its tracks on April 15th this year. When they can no longer accept new players from the US, they instantly lost the money that was supposed to be taken from the players’ bank accounts at some point in time. That ended up accounting for more than $150 million in deposits that Full Tilt said that they took.

That would have been fine if the government didn’t also expect Full Tilt to pay players the money that they had in their accounts. Oops! We’re a “lottle” bit short. They weren’t expecting to have to pay everyone out at once. The “run on the bank” that happened exposed their dirty little secret. So they had to go into bankruptcy.

PokerStars got hit with the exact same sanctions and charges but they weren’t messing around with players’ money and paid everyone back. They are still one of the largest poker rooms.

In the end, this isn’t your classic Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi happens when someone manages other peoples money and returns dividends on profits that they didn’t make. Regardless of whether the individual was trying to legitimately make these profits or not, if you lie about the amount of money you have, it becomes a Ponzi scheme. Eventually, they grow large enough that the only way to keep them going is by continually getting new client money to pay out old clients.

What Full Tilt did was dilute the legitimacy of their games by introducing money that they did not collect. Once they crossed that line, there was no turning back.

Basic Texas Hold’em Strategy

Texas Hold’em is right one the most popular game of poker which is being played on the internet and in offline poker rooms. At the same time people from all over the world are mostly talking on blogs, forums and poker portals about the strategy that you should use while playing Texas Hold’em. Even if some of them are going to work some of the time, others are not going to be that effective. In this article we plan to offer you a short description of the most popular and important Texas Hold’em basic strategies that work and that you should always take into consideration while playing online poker.

One of the main things that you should take into consideration is to watch the cards and to watch the other opponents at the table. You will always need to take a close look at what are the community cards, since your opponents are mostly going to make a hand with the majority of the community cards and by taking a close look at the cards you will manage to better understand what your opponents cards might be depending on the way they are reacting while playing at poker sites.

Another important strategy that you should take into consideration while playing a Texas Hold’em game is bluffing. The players that are really good at bluffing and those that know exactly how often they should use it and how to use it are going to increase drastically their winning rate. Only the best players are going to be good enough to bluff and blow out those players with better hands and convince them to fold their cards even if they hold a low hand.

Texas Hold’em is considered to be a very complex game and knowing the right moment when to fold their cards is another key factor. Sometimes there is absolutely no way you can win anything and even get near the pot with low hands and it’s going not going to take an expert in poker to know that you have to fold your hand.

The truth about winning at online poker

Online poker was thrust is always in the foreground when amateur Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event, beating 838 other players to scoop the 2.5 million U.S. dollars first prize. Once you have entered for only $ 40 by winning a series of smaller satellite tournaments for a place in the main event, he adopted the way for poker players around the world to chase his dream and life-changing prizes to be won in the biggest live poker tournament in the world can yield. Sponsorship of major poker sites, celebrity and cold hard cash attracted many players chasing the dream Texas Hold’em.

Poker phenomenon immediately kicked into gear after 2003 World Series of Poker. Late Night Poker showcase British talent, while the World Poker Tour turned out to be the ‘season’ version of the World Series, offering legitimate played with a high cash buy-in to entice players to chase the elusive big win. Opportunities to play poker at each level suddenly became available to everyone. Right now there are many online poker websites that are offering full coverage about this event. Many of the players you will see at the WSOP will come from online poker rooms like Party Poker or Absolute Poker.

As a natural extension, began professional actors’ money from people’s thirst for knowledge about poker and created many strategy books teaching players skills for them to “make a living’ online. Many people are now to quit their jobs to become full-time online poker player. BBC in Britain has profiled more than one person who does just that, including young university students and even some single parents.

Both good and bad of online poker is that there are so many players. Entering the tournament with twenty participants is difficult enough, what is one of the $ 100 + $ 9 lines that go daily in various poker rooms that have 1500 lines? Even the best players struggle to ever cash in these events, but of course there is big money to winners who are all coming back for more. Next tournament can only be that change your life.

The big question is, can a new player live on the web? The answer is yes, but certain factors must be considered. The first strategy is part of the game that links to the players overall emotional makeup. Professionals talk about making good decisions. When the rent money has been mapped to make the player always make these good decisions? Will you call all-in if you are on a marginal hand, but what you think is a good read?

It is the element with a professional poker player does not contribute much to society while they earn their living. Some people get terribly arising out of this. It is also the social aspect; the living on call can be pretty lonely playing in front of a computer all day at home. Winning poker is folding many hands; you have patience enough to keep folding, day after day? To win you just have to have this patience. The standard of online poker is also improving everyday. You will notice a good play every day in your poker games. It has never been more important to practice and study the basics, and advanced strategy. You must always be working out pot odds, chip, implied odds and are looking for say, because you can count on your opponent is just that for you.

Full Tilt Poker – Rush Poker

This year 2010 should be considered to be the year of innovation to the online poker industry. One of the major events that took part this year in the world of online poker was the launch of the Full Tilt Poker Rush Poker. This new type of poker game has managed to revolutionize the world of online poker thanks to the fact that the players will no longer get bored waiting for a hand to finish and this way they are going to be part of the action all the time. You probably know the times when you play just 10% of the hands you get and you have to wait for all the other 90% of the hands in order to finish and be able to move to the next one. Full tilt poker also offers a great poker bonus.

Well things have changed drastically with the help of Rush Poker. The Rush Poker introduced a new concept that enhances a lot the game of poker. Now every time you are going to push the fold button, even during the game, you will be automatically taken to a new table with new opponents and with a new set of cards will be dealt to you only in a matter of a few seconds. And this is valid for all the players. Thanks to this you will no longer have to wait to see what’s happening at that certain table.

And at the same time the Rush Poker will not only mean change in the game, but also at the strategy that the majority of the players are using. Now many of the players will only continue to play if they are going to receive some premium hands. So this way the strategy that should be used at a game of Rush Poker will have to be changed a little bit. First of all the number of people that are bluffing is going to be significantly reduced, so bluffing is not going to be a good strategy, it should be done but not very often.

Another important element that you should take into consideration when playing Rush Poker is the fact that every game that you play will mean new opponents. This way it’s going to be almost impossible to read your opponents. And by not knowing that kind of information you will be somehow confused about how they will act.

Overall Rush Poker is a really cool and exciting game that should be tried out by any poker lover out there.

In case you want something else make sure that you check out these titan poker coupon code or playersonly bonus code.
